The room at Hotel Universal in Senigallia was absolutely charming! It had a cozy, nostalgic vibe that made me feel right at home. The bed was so comfortable, I haven't slept that well in ages. The view from the window was lovely too, overlooking the picturesque streets of Senigallia. I really enjoyed my stay there.
I must admit, the only thing I didn't quite like was the size of the bathroom. It was a bit small for my liking, but I understand that others might not mind.

The hotel is primarily a beach resort, which is aiming to attract business customers as well. Among 3 star hotels, a very broad category in Italy, it is certainly in the upper quarter. It is located on the less busy promenade of Senigallia, with few bars, restaurants or gelateria; nevertheless, everything is close by, and the bikes, which are freely available to guests, allow to tour the pretty city center and the main beach promenade. This is pleasant for the business traveller as well, who can find a Wifi bar or restaurant to do some work outside. The hotel staff is very helpful; ready-to-eat apples, as well drinks, for arriving and departing guests are a great touch. Breakfast includes yoghurt (though not fat free), eggs, a good choice of fruit, cereals, organic cereals, hand-made cappuccino and a large caffelatte: in summary, good to very good, with a spectacular sea-view. The building itself, though re-styled nicely, is probably from the 70-80:s, and suffers from that age's conceptual limitations: single rooms are small, in the old monastic cell style, with little or no decoration. The little table and the 80-style tablecloth are a bit sad, but the sea-side view (which I had requested) solves it all. The bathroom is much better, with new, small-sized tiles, and an original cylindrical shower (which, with minor refitting, could become a spa-style shower); some decoration missing, but still pleasant. Otherwise clean. In general a cost- effective and pleasant choice. And free Wifi!
The age of the building, the lack of newspapers (though you can order but nobody mentioned it).

The customer service at this hotel was exemplary. We received a confirmation email directly from the hotel less than 5 minutes after booking. We could not have been more impressed by the personal attention given by Serena and her staff,. This is a summer resort hotel which is extending its offering by catering to a year-round clientele. A problem with my car was resolved by the arrival of a mechanic within 15 minutes of notifying Reception. Friendly and responsive service all round. Hotel has been tastefully themed, wide selection of breakfast options. We highly recommend this hotel located on the beach within walking distance of historic Senigallia, our staging point for Ancona ferries.

A private beach with beach umbrellas and sunbeds - great for pretending to be a celebrity! Strategic location for exploring the Marche region. The hotel is filled with impressive artwork and historical pieces - perfect for pretending to be cultured!
Didn't like the fact that I had to leave and face reality again.

Location in front of beach. Beach only for hotel guests. Friendly, helpful and efficient front desk staff. Brand new bathroom.
Slow, tiny lift (which also needs new carpet and paint job). Room was a bit small (and this was not the economy room).
